The Junquito is one of those quiet places that many visit Caracas on weekends for fresh air, buy fruit and vegetables, and feel like traveling to another world. It is a town in passing that many people visit when they are on their way to Colonia Tovar. You can reach it taking the Francisco Fajardo highway via the Yaguara-El Junquito, 40 minutes from the capital, although the road is rather narrow and formed huge queues the trip was well worth it.

Because it is located around 2,000 meters above sea level, its average annual temperature is 16 degrees centigrade, although there are days when the heat hits impressive.

With this temperature the atmosphere is perfect for growing strawberries and peaches. So go there without eating strawberries and cream is almost a sin.

The town of Osma is situated 10 miles from Los Caracas.

Osma formerly was the seashore, but had to move to a safer area because the tide rises, as during the rainy season the waters cover the beach to make it a tiny strip. If you want to visit this beach 200 m X 6 m, on entering the village turn left, cross the river and follow the road to the sea where you will find a gray sand littered with Uveros. Usually, these waters are very choppy and the depth increases rapidly, which surfers enjoy happy to challenge the waves. There is no commercial infrastructure or services, but all that is needed can be found in the village.

Sucre state defined by the range, a characteristic trait of its people and its geography. The landscape Sucre, located at the eastern end of Venezuela’s Caribbean coast, encompasses 11 800 km2 in contrasting environments ranging from arid coasts of Araya to the cloud forests East of the mountains from the arid islands off the coast to the fertile lands of the intricate pipes Campoma or near Irapa. Four national parks – Mochima, Paria Peninsula, and a small portion Turuépano The Guácharo-protect some of the most valuable ecosystems in the eastern region of the country, such as coral reefs, cloud forest, dry forest and mangroves.

Two peninsulas exemplify the contrasts that blend in Sucre: Paria, which extends east and Araya, pointing to the west. The green mountains of Paria, Caribbean sea word meaning "mountains" – that reach 1371 meters at Cerro El Humo, teeming with life, both so, that when approaching these shores, Columbus thought he had found paradise on earth. Araya, "thorn" in Caribbean language, spread like a barren, gray for the color of dry vegetation and lustful for the nuances of the bare earth. In the Gulf of Paria, in an environment dominated by swamps, Sucre opened its shores to the more northerly streams Orinoco Delta.

A spectacular mountain sits at the southern tip of the state. It is the mountains of Tumiriquire, which culminate on the hill tops Turimiquire to 2596 meters high. The moisture-laden air from the ocean forming dense clouds that accumulate and discharge on the solid, producing fresh water, a greater proportion of feeds the economy of the north-east. The hillside rainforest and cloud forest summits are environments rich in wildlife and form one continuous with the foothills of the National Park Guácharo that the state camparte Sucre and Monagas.

Tocuyo river rises in the desert of Cenda to 3585 meters. in the Sierra of "Soap" and "Roses") on the border with the state of Trujillo, is part of the basin of the Caribbean Sea and is the principal river of Lara State, which almost completely through from southwest to northeast. In its course, and empties into the Caribbean Sea some 332 kms runs about watering their movement within a 220 km Lara. This basin provides water for fifteen municipalities of Lara, Falcon, and Trujillo.

At 50 km. birth passes west of the city of Tocuyo, who gave his name, but he falls down the river Curarigua, 60 kilometers from its source the river falls Morere (Carora river), east of town Tocuyo Rio, 100 km course, the river falls Baragua (Riecito) south of the town of Siquisique, which changes the direction of the northwest, 35 kilometers further down the river falls "Tuy" in the valleys of Moroturo, River is born south of this hamlet near Bobare; continues its course bordering the state of Falcon, to the confluence of the creek Cararapa, where he leaves to travel the territory of the State of Lara, 112 km from there continued calling themselves "Rio Remedies ", among Falcon and Yaracuy states, where most rivers will fall in June called" Guaidiana "," Alurima "Guaca", "San Fernando", "Clear Water" and "chiquichique" going to end in the Caribbean Sea.

In regard to the Urdaneta Municipality, Tocuyo River runs through some 100 km away from the south-west to north-east, makes his way through our town on their way bathing several thousand hectares, which begins at the site Corobore Quivaruco the farmhouse, which runs, passes between the farmhouses Guamuy, Bariquia, El Mamon, Rio Abajo, lower parts of the farmhouses Topeyes, La Venta, El Jusal, Zazar, Canillones, El Rosario, and Moroturo. but unfortunately his flow every day that passes decreases due to factors that disrupt their habitat, especially pollution, this once mighty river and waterway are found today lying on the wane, due to indiscriminate felling and burning throughout its travel and even more serious, also in their headers or births. Residents still remember when in early 1926, its cause dry completely.

Tocuyo The river also represents a great tourism potential for this county, but until now local authorities have developed further a coherent policy in this regard.

Attractions: This mountain range of northeastern tip of Venezuela meets natural beauty unique features not yet explored. It has a relatively low relief with elevations not exceeding 1,000 m with steep slopes and slopes greater than 45%.

Christopher Columbus named the peninsula Tierra de Gracia, when he came upon it in his third voyage.
In the northern part of the park are a series of coves with beautiful seascapes, including highlights Mussels, Snapper, San Francisco de Uquire, Don Pedro and Las Palmas. Towards the south side overlooking the Gulf of Paria are small towns like Maraval, Yoco, Guiria, Rio Salado and columbine Macuro. From its summit is clearly visible on the island of Trinidad. Toward the Gulf one can see the various strands that form the meeting of the waters of the Orinoco River and the Atlantic.

The park has the Paria Project Foundation which is responsible for coordinating a range of public and private initiatives to promote nature tourism and organic farming, among others, within a sustainable development concept worthy of emulation in other regions.

The Paria Peninsula is in an inaccessible place. We must clarify that when a person refers to Paria, usually are referring to port Guihen is really the busiest, located north of Sucre state. In true Paria, in the south can only be reached by sea and to visit you take a small boat in the port of Guiria and navigate in the Gulf of Paria. There are no facilities for accommodation of any kind, except those that offer protection coves and some fishermen’s huts. There are some roads on a journey from the villages of La Ce’oa, Mapire, Puerto de Hierro, Macuro Yacu and located at its southern coast is not advisable into the jungle without an escort or an experienced guide, especially by snakes.

You can visit the Paria Peninsula without a walk along the beaches, considered among the finest in the country is the most visited beach Medina, characterized by its calm waters, protected by a bay that makes them suitable for diving. There are hotels and inns near good quality.

Other beaches are important Mapurite Faria, accessible only by sea, Pui-pui and Chaguaramas. The first is known for its sea turtles and the last two by the waves suitable for surfing. Paria is considered the ideal destination for tourists, with its variety of ecosystems from beaches, forests, savannas and waterfalls, the excellent treatment of its people, its culture, traditions and delicious cuisine. In the Patos Island, part of the park, there are still remnants of the defense infrastructure installed here during the Second World War.
Access: From sea to various coves on the northeast coast of the country. Overland to the southern slope, following the route of Carupano Guiria.
